Some Days I Just Don’t Feel Like Adulting!

Some days, it’s really hard to “adult.” Yes, I just used a noun as a verb. Because some days, you just don’t feel like adulting. Yep, did it again.

As adults, we’re supposed to be mature, rational, and have it all together. Some days? Not so much.

Making important life decisions, being responsible for another person, getting yourself out of bed, dressed, and to work on time. Sometimes it’s just really hard, and you don’t feel like it.

Remember being a teen and staying in bed all morning on weekends just because you could? Responsibilities were minimal, life was simple, and freedom was glorious.

Then came 16. Maybe you had a part-time job on Thursdays and Saturdays. Maybe you got your first car and had to pay for gas yourself. That was the start of young adult responsibilities. These days, many teens expect parents to provide the car, gas, and spending money. No job necessary.

When I was a teen, we couldn’t wait to earn our own money. It made us feel independent, mature, and in control of our own lives.

At 18, we were officially adults. We could buy a car, sign contracts, go to the bar, vote, even get married, if our jobs and finances allowed. That was just the beginning of all the decisions we’d face as adults.

Some days, even now, I want to stay in bed, hide from the world, binge-watch TV, or read a good book instead of doing all the adult things I’m supposed to. But unfortunately, we can’t. Bills must be paid, groceries bought, dog food purchased, and life, well, life, goes on.

I don’t think it ever changes. No matter how old you get, some days, you just don’t want to adult. And honestly, with the state of the world, who can blame us?

That’s my two cents.

And as Tigger would say, “TTFN, Ta-ta for now”!
